It’s that time of year again when, just like your tan lines, the long hot days of summer begin to fade. Ladies don’t get too bummed out; I use the end of summer to go over all the autumn lookbooks while I lay poolside.
One collect that caught my eye especially was from Quiksilver Women. I’ve always been a fan of how sophisticated their Quiksilver lines are while still staying true to their surf name. I had some high expectations for their autumn collection, the Outer Sunset, and I must say QS did not disappoint.
The QSW 2011 Autumn Collection features fabulous prints from Northern California artist Serena Mitnik-Miller. Quiksilver found the artist living in San Francisco’s Outer Sunset neighborhood. Here, Serena paints, collects, and runs an adorable general store with her husband, Mason. After meeting the Hawaiian raised, snowboard teacher the QSW team knew Serena’s geometric patterns and her ocean influences would make for a perfect fit in the QSW collection.
Head designer, John Moore describes Quiksilver’s relationship with Serena the best; “Clearly, we had found more than an artist, we had found a muse and a curator.” Read more of Serena’s story here.
I think my favorite pieces of the collection would have to be the Water Dress and the Arrow Tee. Both come from Serena’s patterns. I’m also slightly obsessed with the Neighborhood and Graduate cardigans…for those chilly SF days of course. Oh wait; I also love the Indian Summer Linen dress!
Honestly, the whole line needs to be in my closet...and soon.
